“Our son started nursery at New Stepping Stones in September and I can’t speak highly enough of the whole team. My son was extremely nervous about joining, having not spent much time away from immediate family, and he can get very anxious in social situations so we were all a little apprehensive. I needn’t have been, the staff made sure the transition was gentle and he was so well supported. I really felt like they took time to get to know him, plus the home visit before starting really helped things. It’s clear the staff genuinely care and I felt confident that he was in very safe hands.
At home he speaks so fondly of the staff and also the visiting teachers who give the children fantastic enrichment opportunities such as playball, dance, and music & drama, which he loves to tell us all about. His confidence in playing with other children has increased and he’s learnt lots of new practical skills too.
We’ve found that since he started at New Stepping Stones his confidence in everyday life has rocketed and we’ve no doubt it’s because of the wonderful experiences he’s had at nursery. “It took me quite a while to come across the right setting for my daughter. I did the thing of visiting every nursery in the area (yes, I was that parent!) and none were quite right. I was after an intimate, nurturing environment with staff members who were the very best. I knew as soon as I walked into NSS and one of the staff immediately engaged with my daughter – who loved looking around and exploring – that this was a very special place. In fact it was the only nursery that my daughter didn’t want to leave. This has not changed since she started. Every day she comes home full of the stories from her fun-packed morning. She also loves lunch club. For me the setting is also fantastic. It is centrally located but off any of the busy roads (that was important to me), with a good outside area, lots of space internally but really what is most special about NSS is the staff who have been at NSS for many years (another massively important factor) and their immense experience really shows. It sounds cliched to say it but they really do care about each child. The fact NSS is a charity-driven enterprise that is very much part of East Sheen is also what sets this apart from the surrounding nursery and playgroups. This ethos means it is very community led. “Z was almost 3 years old as we moved to UK from another country and couldn't speak any word in English. I was very worried and concerned about her, if she would feel herself comfortable and safe. The experienced NSS staff welcomed her very warm. Even they couldn't speak the same language they could understand each other, because the staff is warm and experienced with all kind of children She feels very welcomed and comfortable. Even during the settling period she wasn't upset. Day by day she has improved her language skills with their support and patience. She made new friends. She was an introvert girl but she has learned to give a chance to know new people. “Choosing New Stepping Stones for our twin boys was the best decision we ever made. We had just arrived from abroad and our little ones didn't speak any English when they started at this nursery. Within a few months, they were communicating fluently. They were never bored as there were always new projects and activities. They learned something new every week and really enjoyed it. The most important thing for us was that the staff were always very kind and caring with the children. They really listened to them and gave them the attention they needed.
